Activities and Entertainment
ThornMeadow Glassworks runs a year-round scavenger hunt: Every Saturday, they hide hide 10 glass gift bags in and around local parks, beaches, and trails. Find a glass coin, and you're entered in a raffle for a hand-made glass treasure! Visit their Facebook page to see the clues that are posted at 8am and 10am.
Lincoln City Glass Center is located at 4821 SW Highway 101 Lincoln City. Rather than merely observe, your family can experience a hands-on lesson in either blowing a glass float or making a paperweight. One recent visitor was enchanted by the fact that she could carry away a treasure that had her "grand-daughter's breath inside it." (The glass-blowing artisans recommend that the very youngest participants be at least 6 to 7 years old.) Call 541-996-2569 for more information.
The Bijou Theatre is located at 1624 NE Highway 101 in Lincoln City. The best popcorn on the coast is found here... also candies, soda pop, juice and other delectables at affordable prices! Theatre West of Lincoln City is located at 3536 SE Highway 101 in Lincoln City, just over the hill from Ocean Terrace. Performances are each Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 8:00pm. The theatre is community based and offers comedy, drama and musicals throughout the year. Reservations are encouraged. Call 541-994-5663 to find what the current production is on stage.
Chinook Winds Casino and Convention Center is located at 1777 NW 44th in Lincoln City. There is a children's arcade upstairs with food and games, while the ground floor has slot machines, blackjack, poker and bingo. A variety of top entertainers come to the Casino on weekends from Loretta Lynn to Bill Cosby, so you will want to call and see who is on the calendar during your stay. The North Lincoln County Historical Museum is located at 4907 SW Highway 101 in Lincoln City. A nice walk from Ocean Terrace, this is our local historical museum in the Taft neighborhood of the City. From the early days of homesteading in the area, to a stuffed albatross, the Museum has displays recounting the history of our local area. The Connie Hansen Garden is located at 1931 NW 33rd Street in Lincoln City. Open every day year-round, but tours are hosted on Tuesdays and Saturdays. A gift shop, art displays and winding paths through a lush garden entice visitors from around the world. Well known for its irises, but also houses an extensive collection of ornamental grasses, rhododendrons, candelabra primroses and other plants. Call 541-994-6338 for more information.

Tidepooling
Spanish Head (map)
When you're enjoying the view from Ocean Terrace, look to your right: the rocks below the Inn at Spanish Head are home to a surprising variety of marine life (accessible only at low tide). Close to the beach, you might find crabs, anemones, limpets, and dogwinkle shells. If you venture out a little further, you can see chitons, sea stars, and sponges.
Boiler Bay Research Reserve (map)
Just north of Depoe Bay (and only 11 minutes away from Ocean Terrace), this is one of the best tidepooling spots on the Oregon Coast, but it requires a steep descent to reach the tidepools, so bring good shoes and a sense of adventure. Look for a small unpaved turnout above a cove about 1.5 miles south of Lincoln Beach; if you pass the Boiler Bay Scenic Viewpoint, you've gone about 1/4 mile too far. Scramble down the cliff on a small path to the left of the Oregon Coast Trail sign; the tidepools are along the north side of the cove.
Off Logan Road at the north edge of Lincoln City, turn toward the ocean at the traffic light next to McDonald's. Roads End State Park is about 1 mile from Highway 101; the tidepools are about 1 mile north from there along the beach. Call the Lincoln City Visitor Center at 800-452-2151 for more information.
Devils Punchbowl State Natural Area (map)
9 miles north of Newport off Hwy. 101; follow signs to Devils Punch Bowl. Pools near Otter Rock, just north of the parking lot, offer many species including purple sea urchins, lemon nudibranchs, and mossy chitons. Call Beverly Beach State Park at 541-265-9278 for more information.
Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area (map)
At the north end of Newport, turn west at the traffic signal on Lighthouse Drive. This BLM-managed property has a lighthouse, an interpretive center and great tidepools. Cobble Beach, down the stairs near the lighthouse parking lot, offers rich communities of intertidal life; park rangers are often on hand to identify species and assist visitors. 10 miles south of Newport off Hwy. 101, across from the community of Seal Rock. Look for sea palms, as well as dorid, ringed, and opalescent nudibranchs.
Shopping
Lincoln City Outlets are located at 1500 SE East Devils Lake Road in Lincoln City. These wonderful stores can keep you shopping for hours! There are housewares, perfume shops, clothing, books, vitamins, as well as spots to sit down with a nice cup of coffee and people watch. Call 541-996-5000.
The Oceanlake Shopping District invites you to explore wonderful antique stores, bookstores, clothing boutiques, and other specialty stores. Park your car in the free public parking and then enjoy a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood. Oceanlake is north of the "D" River in the northern part of Lincoln City.
The Taft Shopping District is directly south of the Ocean Terrace Condominiums and within easy walking distance. Antiques, surf shops and the North Lincoln County Historical Museum are within easy reach of our location. Kenny's IGA South, a full-service grocery store, is also down in Taft for any needs you may have.
Kid-Friendly Activities
The Oregon Coast Aquarium is located at 2820 SE Ferry Slip Road in Newport. Explore the tide pools, pick up starfish and see what the tides do. Sit and watch the incredible jelly fish tubes, laugh at the antics of the sea otters and seals and wonder at the beauty of the bird sanctuary - and all in one spot! Regatta Park is located on West Devil's Lake Road in Lincoln City. This is a family park on the lake with jungle gyms, climbing structures, picnic tables - a great place to run around, look at the Lake, have a picnic and enjoy the day.
Olde Line Bowling has been a fixture in Lincoln city since the 1930s. They're open Tuesday through Saturday and serve up beer, wine, and food along with bowling in a retro atmosphere. Located at 316 SE Highway 101 in Lincoln City. Call 541-994-9595 for more information.
Local Golf Courses
Just across form the Neskowin Beach Golf Course, 10 miles north of Lincoln City in Neskowin.
Disc Golf
There are several disc golf courses on the Oregon Coast, catering to all levels; most are free to play. South Beach State Park's course is beginner-friendly, and experienced disc golfers will love the challenge of the rugged terrain at Wilder DGC in Newport or Red River DGC in Waldport. Fishing & Whale Watching

The Oregon Dungeness Crab season begins on December 1st, and continues until August 15th. Over half of the annual harvest occurs during the first eight to ten weeks of the season. Harvest effort decreases in the spring as fishermen gear up for other coastal fisheries, but fresh crab continues to be available throughout the summer months.

Coast Range fishing seasons
January through March: Winter steelhead may be found in the coastal streams.
Early May through June: Spring chinook are running and are considered quite the "catch."
September through November: Fall chinook are running in the Siletz River.
